Leather
We offer all our chesterfields in 3 different leather finishes, all leather used is premium grade leather and unlike our competitiors we never use seconds, splits or PU leather, these are inferior grades and are often passed off as the genuine article.
Antiqued Leather
This is a durable leather that is suitable for all applications, it has a darker base colour which over time will start to reveal itself and create a top coat that gives the leather a true antiqued look, as the leather ages the chesterfield improves its colour and patina.
Premium Original Hide
These semi-aniline dyed top grain hides offer the best of both worlds—soft feel, while being very easy to clean. A popular choice for the consumer who wants the softest feel possible, while still being easy to clean and maintain.
They have a distressed look that ages beautifully and is our most popular leather. As this leather is uncorrected the best hides are selected and dyed using traditional methods.
What's so special about our semi- aniline leather?
The finest leathers are pure anilines - and most of our leathers are anilines. Only the top 5% of hides, which are relatively free from gross surface imperfections, can be made into aniline leather. These are full grain; top grain leathers that have been soaked in transparent, non-toxic aniline dye and have no subsequent pigmented finish coats applied. In other words, the colour has not been "painted" onto the surface. The aniline dye penetrates the hide with colour, allowing the natural grain to show through. A soft, mellow hand, characteristic of our Original Hide leathers, is the result of tanning done with such minerals as chromium salts.

Hand Dyed Leather
We are the only manufacturer in the UK that can offer a genuine hand dyed leather on our chesterfield sofas and chairs direct to the public.
Our process involves sourcing leather in its unfinished state known as leather "crust". We then apply a base colour coat by hand using a fully aniline natural dye. The sofa is then upholstered by our time served craftsmen.
Once the item has been upholstered it is then passed to our highly skilled finishers, this is a process that involves applying a second coat of colour then a deep coat of leather cream which nourishes and softens the leather.
When this coat has cured for 2 days we then apply a very rare palm leaf wax imported from the North East of Brazil, this is then buffed by hand until a deep patina is achieved. This painstaking process of making a chesterfield using the hand dyed leather takes up to 5 days. Our hand dyed leather is the best leather available today in Britain. Leather Care
Regular dusting and vacuuming, along with an occasional overall cleaning with a mild lanolin based soap and a damp cloth are recommended for al our leathers.
Remember that leather is a natural material—no two hides are identical; each accepts dye somewhat differently, resulting in shading differences.
Other characteristics may include healed scars from sources such as barbed wire fencing, insect bites, stretch marks, fat and neck wrinkles, as well as other impressions. These hallmarks in no way detract from the wearing qualities of the leather. They are signs discerning owners cherish when buying leather. With the passing of time and use our leather develops a patina which enhances its beauty.
